Wyse TechnologyA Wise Approach to Customer Service Since 1981, Wyse Technology has had a reputation for quality and innovation. Today, Wyse is a leader in Microsoft Windows-based thin-client devices that help enterprises implement a true multi-user network environment while lowering the total cost of computing. The key to Wyse Technologys reputation has always been quality customer service. Through product registrations and a network of Authorized Service Centers, Wyse maintains a database of registered users and delivers high-quality, timely repairs. Using TELEform Elite and the Internet Solution, Wyse is able to collect better data faster with fewer people. Before implementing TELEform, Wyse collected customer data via mail and fax, and manually entered the data into a database. This often resulted in a significant backlog of registration forms. To solve the problem, Wyse initially used TELEform 3.0 to scan and process faxes for automatic data entry, which eliminated the backlog and significantly reduced the required man-hours. Now using TELEform Elite Version 5.4 and the Internet Solution, Wyse has converted its paper registration form to a Web form so customers can register via the Wyse Web site. Because Web forms eliminate image scanning, the data requires little verification, thus further reducing human resource requirements. The TELEform Internet Solution has also helped Wyse save time and money while delivering better service to its Authorized Service Centers. Before installing the Internet Solution, Service Centers would submit warranty repair claims by mail. A Wyse employee would spend approximately eight days, or 64 hours, processing a months worth of claims. By the time Wyse paid the claims, some had aged nearly 40 days. Now, however, Service Centers submit claims via a password-protected Web page. This has enabled Wyse to reduce the processing cycle to two weeks and requires only about 2 days, or 16 hours per cycle, cutting the monthly requirement in half, from 64 to 32. The Service Centers are also very pleased with the faster turnaround. As an additional benefit, by relying on the Internet and faxing, Wyse is saving $8-10 thousand a year just on the elimination of Business Reply Mail. Wyses current hardware implementation is unique. Wyse needed to install TELEform Elite and the Internet Solution on a Winframe for Windows-based multi-user network using Wyses own Windows-based thin client, WinTerm. Wyse was very pleased with the way Cardiff Software studied this environment and quickly created a successful solution.
